Tampon: a chemical bomb

Table of contents

Are you sure you still want to use tampons?

Do you know which chemical bomb represents a single tampon?
Did you know that using tampons can be risky and lead to serious consequences?

The average woman uses 11,000 tampons in her lifeToday, however, the composition of tampons is a real mystery, and does not appear on the boxes, even though they are in direct contact with the vaginal mucosa, internally and often for several hours!
Today, scandals are breaking out, and many women have fallen victim to what for most of us remains a benign, inconsequential object.
Unfortunately, to date there are no studies on the impact of tampons on women's lives ....
  • Problem No. 1: Inaccessible composition: no transparency on this product, even though it is used intravaginally. The manufacturers keep the composition secret.
  • Problem No. 2: What has been found in tampons following investigations. 20 to 30 chemical compounds in the study of the biggest brands, including highly toxic substances: furan, formaldehyde, glyphosate, phthalate, dioxin (caused by the use of chlorine dioxide to make cellulose white).

Do you really want to carry all these products with you 5 days a month?

  • Problem N°3 : the greater the absorbency, the greater the risk. The more absorbent a synthetic tampon, the greater the risk of SCT (toxic shock syndrome).

How can using a tampon become dangerous and lead to TSS?

The tampon allows a certain variety of staphylococcus aureus, of which some women are carriers, to develop: the menstrual flow is blocked in the vagina by the tampon, and if staphylococcus aureus was already present in the vagina, it will use the menstrual flow as a culture medium. 20 to 30 % of women are staphylococcus aureus carriers. This leads to a proliferation of staphylococcus aureus in the vagina. In these colonies, the blood is destroyed by the bacteria, which produce toxins. These toxins pass into the bloodstream, activating the immune system on a massive scale, leading to hypotension, shock, fever, skin rash... and even generalized infection, which can be fatal if not treated in time.
What are the first signs of menstrual toxic shock syndrome (TSS)?): Sudden exhaustion, high fever, flu-like symptoms or gastro. These signs can appear after wearing a tampon.

But what else?

Tampons are also suspected of being one of the causes of endometriosis (partly because of the presence of dioxins, but also because of their obstructive effect).
Studies show that the more a woman uses tampons, the more exposed she is to endometriosis. The link is due in particular to the obstruction of the vagina during menstruation.
As blood is supposed to be evacuated, when wearing a tampon, blood can flow upwards and reach the abdomen, causing severe pain. The presence of endocrine disruptors can also be the cause of hormonal imbalances and other pathologies.
What's more, the accumulation of dioxin in a woman's body month after month is a real problem: as the vaginal mucosa is highly permeable, this molecule is very likely to be assimilated by the vagina. Each tampon represents an additional dose of dioxin in the body, up to 10 per period, repeated 28 days later. What are the real consequences?
Finally, the presence of DEHP, a phthalate, increases the risk of infertility. The higher the phthalate level during the follicular (estrogenic) development period, the greater the risk of miscarriage. For some women, the menstrual period is already a period of follicular development preceding ovulation. The quality of the ovum will therefore be affected if it matures while wearing a tampon. This can lead to miscarriages and infertile cycles.

My advice to avoid risks :

* Don't wear tampons, women can use cups, pads, or practice instinctive free-flow.
* Otherwise choose a buffer with a minimum absorption level
* Prefer pads made of cottonSynthetic materials promote the proliferation of staphylococcus aureus.
* Use brand names biological
* Change pads as often as possible
